Kirk Calling ISS: William Shatner Speaks To Astronauts At International Space Station (VIDEO)

Captain Kirk Calls Astronauts On International Space Station

Captain Kirk, aka William Shatner, spoke live to the astronauts aboard the International Space Station on Thursday.

In an emotional but investigative 15 minute call, Shatner asked Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield how he coped with the fear of flying in space.

"I'm so moved to be able to speak to you for this brief moment," Shatner said.

He asked about the future of the American space program, the risks of space travel and the possibility of a mission to Mars.

"To accomplish anything worthwhile in life, it's going to take risk," Hadfield said.

"Even if you stay at home and sit at your kitchen table, eventually the ceiling will fall. There'll be a hurricane or tornado. You can't live a worthwhile life without risk."
