Mel B Joins 'America's Got Talent', Replacing Sharon Osbourne (VIDEO)

Mel B's Big Stateside Job

Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown is joining the judging panel of 'America's Got Talent', NBC has announced.

Mel B, also known as Scary Spice, will take her seat alongside Howie Mandel and Howard Stern when the variety competition show returns for its eighth season this summer.

She will fill the space on the panel left by Sharon Osbourne, who could be set for a return to the UK 'X Factor' after Tulisa was reportedly axed. Osbourne was also seen presenting an award at the Brits this week with 'The X Factor' host Dermot O'Leary.

Mel B was previously a contestant on ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars' and in 2010 she starred with her family in a reality series for The Style Network.

She recently completed a two-season run as a judge on the Australian edition of 'The X Factor' and for one season was co-host of the Australian 'Dancing With The Stars'.

The singer impressed ITV bosses with her straight-talking attitude and sense of humour when she appeared as a guest judge last year.

A source close to her said: “Mel is pretty sure she wants to stay in Australia. She enjoyed appearing on the show in the UK but is telling friends she will stick to the set-up that she is the most comfortable with.”
