Swansea City barely broke sweat as they thrashed Bradford City 5-0 in perhaps the most one-sided League Cup final in the competition's 52-year history.
The scoreline sets a new record for the biggest victory margin in a League Cup final after Jonathan de Guzmán's second goal in stoppage-time took Swansea one better than Manchester United's 4-0 triumph against Wigan in 2006.
The Swans' first major trophy guarantees them a Europa League berth in the 2013-14 campaign, 10 years after they narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference.
Dyer celebrates his second goal
Bradford, conquerors of Premier League clubs Wigan, Arsenal and Aston Villa en route to their first Wembley final since the Mona Lisa was stolen in 1911, were overawed and overwhelmed by the showpiece occasion and ended the match with 10 men.
Nathan Dyer opened the scoring after 16 minutes when Matt Duke parried Michu's shot into his path before the silky Spaniard hit an ingenious strike on 40 minutes to double the lead and end the contest.
Zero shots on target, zero corners won and with just 26% of the possession, things soon exacerbated further for Bradford. Dyer hit his second minutes after the re-start, and then De Guzman was hauled down by Duke for a penalty. The Bantams' goalkeeper was correctly dismissed for denying the Dutchman a goalscoring opportunity.
The avaricious Dyer squabbled with De Guzmán as he bid to claim a first League Cup final hat-trick from the spot however his teammate refused to yield and struck the penalty emphatically for 4-0. Michael Laudrup substituted Dyer shortly afterwards, who was named man of the match.
De Guzmán made it an ignominious afternoon for the League Two team with a neat finish for Swansea's fifth.
