PICS: Nasa Craft Captured Venus Between Saturn's Rings

One of the most amazing photographs ever taken has been captured by Nasa scientists - from Saturn.

The Cassini spacecraft, which is currently in orbit around the massive ringed planet, took the picture in 2012.

The image shows a tiny pixel shining bright in the sky between the dramatic rings of ice and rock.

That pixel is in fact the hot and toxic world of Venus.

The picture was taken in November when Cassini was in Saturn's shadow, about 500,000 miles above the planet and about 880,000,000 miles from Venus.

Another image of the planet was taken on 4 January, and shows the planet as a bright dot between Saturn's limb and its G ring:

The $3.2 billion Cassini craft is expected to study Saturn and its many moons until at least 2017, after which no further missions to the planet are planned.
