Snowdon Mountain Rescue Of Mother And Son In Heavy Snow, High Winds (VIDEO)

WATCH: Dramatic Mountain Rescue Of Mother And Son

A Welsh mountain rescue team launched a dramatic rescue bid to save a mother and son stranded next to treacherous 1,000ft vertical cliff on Snowdon, in heavy snow.

Rescuers, using a luminous yellow shelter because of the dire visibility, were despatched up the mountain to the aid of a 41-year-old mother and her 17-year-old son, who were stranded on the Llanberis Path.

The mountain rescue took place 3,000ft up Snowdon

They were found by another walker at an altitude of over 3000ft, just metres from vertical cliffs it was impossible to see because of the visibility, and in winds of 70mph.

Llanberis Mountain Rescue released the footage in a bid to warn people of the dangers of walking in the area in harsh weather conditions.

In October last year, Swiss national Hanna Campiche, 26, from Kidderminster, died after she fell from Garnedd Ugain ridge on Snowdon.
