Jane Levy, Star Of 'Evil Dead' Remake, Reports On 'The Worst They Had Me Do'

'The Worst Thing They Had Me Do'

Actress Jane Levy can laugh now, but the things they made her do for her lead role in 'Evil Dead' - a remake of the 1981 original - would have many a young actress considering a career rethink.

"I got buried alive," she tells HuffPostUK.

"They put me down in the ground in a coffin for a couple of minutes, and then another time, they put me in the ground, covered me with earth and I had to dig my way out."

Jane Levy had to go through the mill for her role in 'Evil Dead'

Could she relax afterwards? "Err, it kind of stayed with me," she replies, with admirable understatement.

Levy, however, can take comfort that, at 23, she has taken her place in horror history - even if she didn't realise it when she took the part of Mia, in the archetypal horror story of five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

"I hadn't even heard of it when I auditioned," she remembers, describing her teenage diet of horror as including the remakes of 'The Ring' and 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'.

"I read the script, and all my friends were telling me it was this cult classic. So THEN I watched it, and I got excited, and terrified. And super pumped."

'Evil Dead' is in cinemas from Friday 19 April. Watch the (green band - not too bad!) trailer below...
