It's been a tragic week in the US after the Boston Marathon bombings shook communities and prompted an outpouring of grief.

As events unfolded in Watertown early on Friday morning, London marathon runners pledged solidarity ahead of Sunday's event and to run with their "hands over hearts" in memory of all those injured.

Margaret Thatcher's funeral also dominated the news, with protestors and anti-Thatcher parties demonstrating the Iron Lady had lost none of her power, proving as divisive in death as in life.

Amanda Thatcher, the former PM's granddaughter, reminded us of the woman behind the policies, impressing the congregation with a composed reading.
