3D Printed Gun Fired In America Makes Downloadable Firearms A Reality (VIDEO)

WATCH: World's First 3D Printed Gun Fired

An American man has fired the first ever gun made with a 3D printer.

The news brings the reality of absolutely anyone being able to make firearms in their own living rooms a big step closer.

The gun, called the 'Liberator', consists of 16 parts, 15 of which can be made with a 3D printer. The final part is a simple everyday nail to use as the firing pin.

The printer used costs $8,000 but the technology will inevitably come down in price.

Defense Distributed, the company behind the project, plan to make the blueprints available online.

Speaking to Forbes the man behind Defense Distributed, Cody Wilson, said: “I recognize that this tool might be used to harm people. That’s what it is — it’s a gun. But I don’t think that’s a reason to not put it out there. I think that liberty in the end is a better interest.

"This is about enabling individuals to create their own sovereign space."
