Imagine the scene. You're high up in a tree (because you're clearly some kind of huntsman or woodsman) and the next thing you know, you spot a bear on the ground down below.
Do you expect the bear to (a) wander off, (b) look at you and then wander off or (c) look at you, climb up the tree, have a good old sniff around you, climb back down the tree and then wander off?
