'Dancing On Ice' To Be Saved? Producers Reportedly Working On Keeping The Show

'Dancing On Ice' To Be Saved?

Dancing On Ice may avoid the chop despite the departure of Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, it has been reported.

The ice dancers recently announced they would be hanging up their skates at the end of the 2014 edition and ITV confirmed that that the programme would come to an end after they left.

But according to The Sun, producers are secretly working on keeping the show going with new mentors.

A source said: "The show is still massive for ITV.

"But when Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean decided to go, it gave (ITV boss) Peter Fincham a reason to get rid of it.

"Yet many at ITV Studios think that was the wrong decision. Jayne and Christopher leaving is a big deal and it will be incredibly hard to replace them - but not impossible. To say that they are the only telegenic skating pros who could fill the role would be wrong. So watch this space."

The insider said the ice-skating competition does well in the ratings, explaining that the "world is not awash with shows that rate like Dancing On Ice does".
