Andy Murray Unsure About Knighthood After Wimbledon Win (PICTURES)

No Longer In Fred's Shadow

Andy Murray looked remarkably fresh the morning after his Wimbledon final success at the All England Club.

Clean-shaven and hugging the once elusive trophy, the Scot fulfilled a number of media commitments having attended last night's winners' ball.

Murray, 26, aired his doubts about whether his feat warranted a knighthood, something which prime minister David Cameron has endorsed.

"It's a nice thing to have or be offered.," Murray admitted. "I think just because everyone's waited for such a long time for this, that's probably why it will be suggested but I don't know if it merits that."

Murray was made an OBE after winning Olympic gold and the US Open last summer.

His historic victory was watched by a peak of 17.3 million viewers, the BBC said, 300,000 more than his final loss to Roger Federer last year.
