There's nothing that makes your Fashion Priest's soul soar like music. A madrigal, perhaps. A choir during evensong. Or the latest floor-filler from holy Madonna or the Lady of Gaga down the weekly parish disco. So the Brit Awards - combining sartorial worship with sonic supplication - is always music to my sacred ears.
Emeli Sande was the big winner of statuettes, while One Direction got the congregation screaming and Mumford & Sons looked like they'd come to fix the leaky church roof. However, yours truly was more vexed by the fact that most of the females performers played it too safe frock-wise.
There was far too much black, not enough couture craziness and the occasion lacked the spectacular frocks of last year. In fact, men stole the show - mostly looking snappy, dapper and on-trend.
