Google's Moto X Phone Will Feature Always-On 'Open Mic' (VIDEO)

Google's New Phone Will Always Be Listening...

Google's new phone will take hands-free to a whole new level - you don't have to touch it at all.

The Moto X will feature a permanently-on passive listening device -- meaning it will respond to voice commands even when it's not turned on.

In a similar way to Google Glass, the user simply needs to say "Ok Google Now" followed by an instruction.

It appears to be the same kind of technology that will feature in the new Xbox as manufacturers seek to create devices that are constantly "on".

Other features include an easy-access camera that turns on simply by flicking your wrist twice. It also does a way with a dedicated shutter button as you simply touch anywhere on the screen to take a picture.

Also featured are "active updates". The ad states: "Instead of a blinking light that doesn't actually tell you anything, information quietly appears on the screen."

What isn't clear is if these features will be exclusively for the Moto X or whether they will be part of a wider Android 4.3 refresh.

The Moto X is the first smartphone from Motorola Mobility since it merged with Google and should be available (in Canada at least) in August.

The phone appears in a leaked video from Canadian mobile carrier, Rogers.
