This Week You Should Try... The St. Tropez Tanning Treatment

I'll be the first one to admit I feel so much more confident in my skin when I've got a glowing tan. There's something about a bronzed bod that just makes me feel great. Have you ever seen someone with I tan looking grumps? I haven't.

But before I start telling you why you should have a St. Tropez spray tan there's one thing you should know. The last spray tan I had - at a local beauty salon for a tenner - was a total disaster which spurred a lot of "have you been rolling around in the dirt?" type questions. The last spray tan I left me so traumatised it took a whole two years for me to pluck up the courage to have another one.

However, the thought of hitting the beach this summer looking as pale as a ghost shook me to the core and forced me to confront the spray tan fear. And d'you know what? I'm SO glad I did.

For a failsafe false tan there's one brand that springs to mind, St. Tropez. And feeling a little vulnerable I wanted to be sure I was in safe hands. Opting for a quick session on my lunch break I headed down to Selfridges Skin Finishing Studio for a St. Tropez tanning treatment.

I told Jules, my spray tanner (I'm not sure that's his official job title) all about my past experience and within minutes he had me totally at ease and confident that this time I wouldn't leave looking like I'd just been up a chimney.

As soon as he got to spraying I could see the results and was bowled over by how natural it looked. Not a hint of orange in sight.

After waiting a matter of minutes for the tan to dry I was en route back to the office. Cue the compliments. "You're looking lovely and brown. Have you been away?" When I told one colleague I'd just been for a St. Tropez she insisted on smelling me. And she had good reason to, because I was oozing a yummy almond scent and not the usual biscuity stench you get with some fake tans.

Jules made clear the tan would last for about five days, but those five days have been and gone and I'm still looking as if I've just stepped off the beach. Result.

In sum, this week you should try the St. Tropez tanning treatment because if a tan-a-phobe like me can emerge from the spray tan booth with a massive grin on my face then anyone can.

And P.S. I'm down for anything if Kate Moss is invloved.
