Fashion magazine giant Vogue is sending behind-the-scenes videos to 1,000 schools in the hope of making young girls realise the models in their magazines are artificial.
Editor of Vogue UK Alexandra Shulman said: "I thought it would be interesting for schoolgirls to create this film of a deconstruction of what happens in a fashion shoot to turn a nice-looking girl who doesn't look like a superstar into a polished model who appears in the magazine. Our job is to construct this beautiful world, not to deal with everyday life."
Catwalk model Drake Burnette is shown before and during a shoot to show how she looks without make-up and the final effect, BBC Radio 4 reported.
In an interview shown in the film, she said: "When I look at photos of myself in a magazine, it can be surprising because the images are so constructed.
"And when I look at myself in the mirror, I don't see a very glamorous girl. I just see a girl who is, like, probably in a hurry and tired and a little stressed out."
Shadow equalities minister Helen Goodman welcomed the move, saying it was a "small step in the right direction".
