PICTURE: These Human Skin Necropants Will Make You Rich

Get rich quick – with these charming Icelandic “necropants”.

It’s all very simple, all you have to do is secure a friend’s agreement that when he dies (of natural causes) you have permission to skin him from the waist down and wear his flesh as trousers.

Then, bear with us, you must perform a complicated series of manoeuvres entailing stealing from a widow and drawing a magical symbol - known on as a nábrókarstafur - on a piece of parchment. (Got all that? Good).

Necropants will make you rich. Maybe.

THEN, you tuck both into the scrotal sack of your necropants and, bob’s your uncle, you will magically come into the possession of lots of cash (and probably a swollen scrotum).

Back in the 17th century when necropants were all the rage, you had to be careful about who saw you in them, because snazzy as they may have been, if you were suspected of sorcery you risked being burned alive.

“In Iceland, mostly men were accused of witchcraft, while in Europe mostly women were burned alive after being condemned as witches,” Sigurdur Atlason told Icelandreview.com.

Atlason is the manager of the Strandagaldur, Iceland’s Museum of Sorcery and Witchcraft, where these hairy leggings are just one of the ghoulish items on display.

Back to the necropants though, there is a catch: "They would immediately be stuck with your own flesh and be part of your body," a spokesman for the museum told UPI.com.

"People would be able to use them as long as they lived, but they would have to get rid of them before they die. If they would find someone to take them over they could last forever.”
