A US company has been described as having "a lack of human decency" after using the former South African president's death to promote car insurance.
It is unsure whether their tweets were automated, or some sort of tasteless joke, but the messages claim that the former South African president saved money after using their website.
As emotional tributes poured in from celebrities across the world, the account cheerfully responded barely an hour after Mr Mandela's death by claiming that he had "freed the world from high car insurance rates."
The tweets then encouraged tweeters that they too could "save now."
Unsurprisingly, many reacted with outrage to the messages.
