These touching snaps of a little boy rescuing his injured puppy from a busy road in Brazil will help restore your faith in humanity.
The pictures were posted on Brazilian website Guarda-Sol and show 11-year-old Jean Fernandes rushing to his terrified pet's aid.
A translation provided by Twentytwowords.com says: “This sequence showing the boy’s love for the dog Honey (also known as Mel, in Portuguese) was captured by photographer Rafaela Martins.
“The driver who hit the dog did not stop to render aid — something quite common in Itajai according to veterinarian Denilson da Silva Vargas of the Center for Animal Control.”
Jean’s mother Rubia Liliana Rose told the publication her son loves animals and usually rescues them when he finds them abandoned or injured.
Of his four-legged friend, Jean said: “We like to play ball together. But he’s not playing now because he’s still in pain.”
Happily, thanks to Jean’s heroics Honey is well on the way to recovery.
Good work Jean.
