Three Easy Christmas Recipes You Can Make With The Kids

Chocolate Snowman Cup Cakes (10-12 servings)

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Baking time: 20 minutes

115g (4 oz) Flora Buttery

115g (4 oz) castor sugar

2 eggs, medium

115g (4 oz) self-raising flour

25g (1 oz) cocoa powder, mixed with 2 dessertspoons water

Icing

55g (2 oz) Flora Buttery

225g icing sugar, sieved

1 tablespoon milk

50g white chocolate, melted

Decoration

55g (2 oz) desiccated coconut

Orange cake decorations or coloured fondant for nose, chocolate buttons and drops for eyes and hat

  • Preheat oven to 180°C, 160°C fan, Gas mark 4.
  • Weigh your eggs. Note the weight and measure the same amount of Flora, sugar and flour. Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat with a wooden spoon 2 – 3 minutes until well mixed. Place dessertspoons of the mixture in 10-12 paper cases or greased bun tins.
  • Bake for around 20 minutes until soft and springy to touch. Cool on a wire tray.
  • Mix icing ingredients together and spread over the cakes. Sprinkle with coconut and decorate as a snowman face using the buttons cut in half for the hat, the chocolate drops for eyes and orange decoration for nose.

Rudolf Red Velvet Cupcakes (10-12 servings)

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 20 minutes

115g (4 oz) Flora Buttery

115g (4 oz) caster sugar

2 eggs, medium

115g (4 oz) self-raising flour

15g (½ oz) cocoa powder

30ml red food colouring (gel is best)

Icing

55g (2 oz) Flora Buttery

225g icing sugar, sieved

1-2 tablespoons milk

25g (1 oz) cocoa powder

Decoration

White chocolate buttons and plain chocolate drops

Pretzels

150g Flora Buttery

150g caster sugar

3 eggs

150g self-raising flour

115g icing Sugar

  • Turn oven on to 175°C.
  • Put everything except the icing sugar into a big bowl and mix well.
  • Pop into paper cases and bake for 10–12 minutes. Leave to cool.
  • Mix water with the icing sugar a little at a time until its smooth.
  • Top the cakes with a teaspoon of icing each.
