Nelson Mandela Tribute Poster In India Features Morgan Freeman (PICTURE)

Um, Guys That's Not Nelson Mandela

Big ‘doh!’ moment for all concerned: This poster memorial intended to pay tribute to the late Nelson Mandela contains a fatal flaw.

Yup, up there alongside Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King Jr and Mahatma Gandhi is…er, Morgan Freeman.

The memorial was displayed in the Indian city of Coimbatore and was paid for by a local cloth merchant, Agence France-Presse writes.

The text of the poster, written in Tamil, read (via a Huffington Post translation):

Among today's politicians who cannot think beyond the next election cycle, Nelson Mandela was a leader who thought of the well-being of future generations. He went to join Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King on 5.12.13. We bow down to him, proud to have lived during his time on earth and praise his message of love, non-violence and sacrifice. "The farmer may sleep, but the seeds he planted never will."

Plans are afoot to replace the memorial with the correct image after the gaffe went viral, with the chap who commissioned it telling reporters he had had no idea the error had occurred. (For the record, Freeman played Mandela in the 2009 film Invictus.)

While the mistake may seem somewhat unbelievable, let’s remind ourselves of some of the online tributes zapping around the day after Mandela passed away, aged 95.

You guys.
