London Underground Tube In The 1970s And 1980s By Bob Mazzer (PICTURES)

PICTURES: Take A Tube Back To The Underground Of The 70s & 80s

What’s your commute like? Do you keep your head down and concentrate on getting from A to B, or do you open up your eyes and absorb the world around you?

This photographer built a career photographing the sights on the London Underground in the 70s and 80s as he commuted through the bowels of city, armed with just his Leica M4.

Bob Mazzer tells Spitalfields Life: “For a while... I lived with my father in Manor House and worked as a projectionist at a porn cinema in King's Cross.

The way it was: Bob Mazzer chronicled life on the tube between the 70s and 80s

“It was called The Office Cinema, so guys could call their wives and say ‘I’m still at the office’.

“Every day I travelled to Kings Cross and back. Coming home late at night, it was like a party and I felt the tube was mine and I was there to take pictures.”

Now sit back, kindly keep your feet off the seats and let's travel back in time via a backdrop of punks, drunks and some seriously brilliant fashion.
