'12 Years A Slave' has taken Best Film at this year's Golden Globes, meaning a big British win for director and writer Steve McQueen.
The Ealing-born Turner Prize winner looked so shocked he had to be reminded who to thank in his acceptance speech.
It is only the third feature film of the British filmmaker, following 'Hunger' and 'Shame', and it has won five-star reviews across the board for its unflinching portrayal of slavery in the Deep South, following the memoirs of Solomon Northurup, who was sold into slavery from the North.
McQueen was one of the few Brits to take home a gong from this year's ceremony, with most of the spoils being shared between different actors' work in different films.
McQueen didn't take home Best Director for his film, though. That went to Alfonso Cuaron for his extra-terrestrial epic, 'Gravity'.
Which didn't win Sandra Bullock a prize for Best Actress in a Drama. That prize went to Cate Blanchett for 'Blue Jasmine'.
