Yes, you read that correctly. The AspireAssist device works by pumping food right out of the stomach, so that only a third of the calories are absorbed by the body.

The way it works is simple: Twenty minutes after eating, patients empty 30% of their stomach contents into the toilet through a tube attached to their abdomen.

Of course, the machine isn't without critics, while some are dubbing it 'bulimia technology', others are concerned that sucking out a third of stomach contents will lose valuable nutrients.
