An awful lot of Winter Olympic sports fall under the category of 'utterly terrifying to most of us'. Ski jumping. The luge. Curling.

And if you want a taste of just how scary the luge is, then we suggest you click play on the video above. It was filmed on the Sochi Olympics doubles luge track in 2012 by US luger Matthew Mortensen (with a camera on his helmet). And as you can see, he goes very, very fast indeed.
