If London Were Syria: Harrowing Video Shows Impact Of War

What if London was plunged into a conflict similar to that in Syria?

A harrowing video has imagined the nightmare a British child would endure if war came closer to home.

The hard-hitting clip shows our capital being turned into a war zone as a young London girl’s sixth birthday party turns to carnage with rockets and shells reducing her family home to rubble.

The charity Save The Children created the time-lapse video, named ‘If London Were Syria’, as part of their efforts to raise awareness about the plight of Syrian youngsters.

The video hauntingly closes with the words: "Just because it isn't happening here, doesn't mean it isn't happening."

"We hope the video will resonate with members of the public, particularly those who don’t know much about the situation in Syria so they can really understand the plight of innocent Syrian children. said Jake Lundi, Director of Brand and Communications at Save The Children.

"The message to the public is just because it’s not happening here, doesn’t mean it’s not happening."

The campaign video has been watched more than two million times on YouTube since it was published on Wednesday.
