'The Voice': Tom Jones Reportedly Encouraged To 'Be More Animated' During Saturday's Live Show

Tom Jones Too Boring For 'The Voice'?

'The Voice' producers reportedly used breaks during Saturday night's live shows to encourage mentor Tom Jones to be less boring.

According to The Sun, producers found Tom's critiques too dull compared to the other three mentors Kylie Minogue, Ricky Wilson and will.i.am, and tried to get a more animated response from him while he spoke on screen.

"He called everyone ‘great’ and his responses were flat and awkward. It was obvious the crew were doing everything they could to get him to be more lively. They spoke to him after every act. At least half a dozen times they were seen with their hands out and lifting them up, in a bid to boost the energy."

Reports also claim that presenter Emma Willis was having a hard time getting an answer out of the 73-year-old compared to the other mentors.

However, the BBC have insisted this was not the case, and that Tom was actually being spoken to between songs to make sure his critiques didn't go on too long as the show was running over.

It's also been reported that Tom's fellow mentor Kylie Minogue is not planning on staying with 'The Voice' for the next series as she will be on tour later this year when filming is scheduled to start.
