Darth Vader’s bid for the Ukraine presidency has been rejected.
The leader of the Ukrainian Internet Party (UIP) was officially proposed for the candidacy last week, promising: “I alone can make an empire out of a republic, to restore former glory, to return lost territories and pride for this country.”
But the Ukrainian Central Electoral Commission says parts of ‘Vader’s’ application were “questionable” and some of the paperwork was forged, the BBC reports.

It adds the man masquerading as the Sith Lord is really an electrician called Viktor Shevchenko, who changed his name to Darth Vader in March.
In earlier comments reported by Euro News, Vader vowed: “Our main task is to return Crimea in three days.”
Gesticulating with this left finger, he added: “I have one little tiny thing, tiny thing, which (Russian President Vladimir) Putin needs. And in return, he will give us Crimea.”
The same channel cites UIP member Dmitry Golubov as saying: “The Internet Party of Ukraine decided to submit a robot as a candidate. A robot has never been in power before.

“A robot is more decent; it doesn’t support corruption, it doesn’t corrode. According to all internet polls, Darth Vader leads the pre-election campaign. That’s why he’s not been registered by the Central Electoral Commission. They are afraid of him.”
Ukraine's presidential elections will take place on 25 May.
Vader and other activists also dressed as Star Wars characters including Stormtroopers, have previously made appearances on the Ukrainian political scene.
In December 2012 they distributed canned foods, matches, condoms, toilet paper, soap, lightbulbs and ‘tickets’ for their spacecraft evacuation scheduled for the supposed end of the world – 21 December.
Vader also made a bid to become mayor of Odessa late last year – after being carried into the city hall by Stormtroopers.
The UIP was registered as an official political party in 2010 and aims to create an electronic government in Ukraine, facilitate the transition to digital media and offer free computer course to all citizens.
