Ivor Novello Awards 2014: Arctic Monkeys, London Grammar And Emeli Sandé Receive Nominations

Ivor Novello Awards 2014 Nominations Announced

The nominees for the 2014 Ivor Novello Awards have been announced, revealing that Arctic Monkeys, London Grammar and Emeli Sandé are all in the running to scoop a prize.

The awards celebrate British and Irish song-writing and categories include Best Contemporary Song, Best Television Soundtrack and the highly-coveted Album Award.

Arctic Monkeys have received a nod for their album 'AM'

Arctic Monkey’s chart-topping record ‘AM’ has scooped them a nomination in the Album Award category, where they are up against Laura Mvula for her latest release ‘Sing To The Moon’ and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ release ‘Push The Sky Away’.

Newcomers Palma Violets, London Grammar and John Newman will battle it out for the Best Song Musically and Lyrically accolade while the Best Contemporary Song prize will be contested for by Disclosure, Sam Smith and Mercury Prize winner James Blake.

London Grammar

Arctic Monkeys have already scooped a number of awards for their fifth studio album ‘AM’, including the Best British Album Award at the BRITs and the NME Awards.

They have only even won one Ivor Novello, scooping the Best Album prize for their debut ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ back in 2007.

The Ivor Novello Awards will take place at Grosvenor House on 22 May.
