Chris Martin has given his first interview following his split from Gwyneth Paltrow, admitting his own "issues" drove a wedge between them.
The Coldplay frontman revealed in a chat with Zane Lowe that he felt he couldn’t fully open up emotionally, which created problems in his marriage.

He said: “If you can’t open yourself up, you can’t appreciate the wonder inside. So you can be with someone very wonderful, but because of your own issues you cannot let that be celebrated in the right way.
“Up to a point in my life I wasn’t completely vulnerable and it caused some problems. If you don’t let love in then you can’t really give it back.”
Chris is gearing up to release Coldplay’s sixth collection ‘Ghost Stories’ in May, and says that he wrote about the troubles in his personal life on the album.
Speaking about the forthcoming release, Chris said: “What Ghost Stories means to me is like you’ve got to open yourself up to love and if you really do, of course it will be painful at times, but it will be great at some point.”
He and Gwyneth announced that they were “consciously uncoupling” after ten years of marriage through a blog post on her lifestyle website Goop earlier this year.
The actress has since thanked fans for their support following the news, while Chris’s dad told journalists that the pair were “still great mates” despite no longer being involved romantically.
Last week removal vans were seen outside of the home the couple used to share in London.
