Three women have been arrested for lewd behaviour after an incident which saw them indulge in a display of twerking outside Oregon’s City Hall.
Coura Valazquez had visited the building to pay a fine on Monday, accompanied by friends Brittany Medak and Leokham Yothsombath, KPTV.com reports.
According to a police report cited by the station, the trio had left court when Valazquez and Medak began “twerking and exposing their genitals” whilst Yothsombath filmed the pair with her mobile phone.
Medak is then said to have urinated in the car park.
“There are families here with children, people coming in and out of City Hall, whether it be for passports or paying utilities,” Mike Rowe of Beaverton Police told Katu.com
He added: “The twerking itself, fine, but the fact that they were exposing their bare genitalia and one of them urinated in public, that’s where the concern is.
“They can dance as much as they want on the sidewalk as long as they don’t do it in a manner that’s offensive.”
The women left after their performance but were picked up nearby by a squad car from Beaverton Police Department.
A search of the vehicle found evidence of cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, Koin.com writes.
The three were taken into custody and now face multiple drug-related charges. Medak and Valazquez were also booked on second-degree disorderly conduct for their twerking display.
Twerking, the raunchy dance move popularised by Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMAs, was among the list of new words added to the Oxford Dictionary of English last year.
