Father Throws 23-Month-Old Daughter In Pool To Teach 'Water Safety', Gets Promptly Arrested

Worst 'Water Safety' Lesson Ever Nearly Drowns Toddler

A father has been arrested for his rather unorthodox method of teaching his daughter about water safety.

Corey McCarthy, from Phoenix, Arizona, figured the best way to get the message through to 23-month-old Mia was to throw her head-first into the water - repeatedly.

The only safety precaution he appears to have taken was to have his girlfriend swim after her to drag her up to the surface.

The toddler's mother who wasn't present at the time said: "I am very angry and I'm very hurt and I just hope that my kids are going to be OK from this.

"You see him taunting her, like throwing her like he's gonna, then he's not, throwing her like he's gonna, then he's not.

"What people don't know is also in the beginning of the video, he hoses her down with a water hose to kind of torture her that way.

McCarthy claims the lesson was needed after the little girl dropped a puppy into the water which subsequently died.

Thankfully Mia was not harmed in the incident but was taken to hospital as a precaution.

McCarthy fared less well and was beaten up in jail.
