'Metropolis 2': Arist Chris Burden Creates The City Of Tomorrow, By Hand

This Artist Just Built The 'City Of Tomorrow'... By Hand

What will the future look like? It's a question that has pre-occupied politicians, artists and film-makers for centuries -- but lately it seems like we've forgotten how to think big about our once-gleaming possible tomorrow.

American artist Chris Burden has a better idea. He spent four years building his own version of a futuristic city, Metropolis II, complete with dazzling structures, zooming cars and public transport.

The installation caused a huge buzz back in 2011 and has since been placed on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, after being purchases for "millions" of dollars. This film looking at how it was built and why is a great reason to revisit the idea, and think about your own impression of how the future will go.
