An East End London borough has still not completed its council election count more than three days after polls closed.
Electoral chiefs at Tower Hamlets suspended their operations at around 3am today until tomorrow.
The provisional council line-up shows Tower Hamlets First Group - backing re-elected mayor Lutfur Rahman re-elected on a knife edge- and Labour on 18 seats each. There are four Tories and no party has overall control.
Recounts have been taking place at Bromley South ward. Even when the Bromley result is resolved the councillors' team will not be complete.
There will still be three vacancies in Blackwall and Cubitt Town where the election was postponed after a candidate's death.
The council was the subject of a BBC Panorama documentary into alleged financial mismanagement, but a subsequent police investigation into allegations of fraud by the mayor of a London council found “no credible evidence of criminality”.
Rahman, who was said to have more than doubled public funding to Bangladeshi and Somali groups from £1.5m to £3.6m, said the accusations were motivated by racism and Islamophobia.
Auditors from PricewaterhouseCoopers have been ordered by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles to conduct a financial review of the council, and will report back on June 30.
