The Ice Diet: What Is It And How Does It Work?

Well This Is Pretty Unusual Diet Advice...

From going on a juice detox diet to eating mainly cabbage soup for a week, people go to great lengths to lose weight. But now one doctor is suggesting a new diet that will melt away those stubborn pounds - literally.

Dr. Brian Weiner's 'Ice Diet' is simple enough, all you need to do is add ice to your diet.

But before you run for the hills, Dr Weiner isn't suggesting a diet nothing but of ice cubes. Instead he recommends a healthy diet and slurping approximately one litre of shaved or crushed ice, every day.

Eating ice will kickstart the metabolism, he claims, because of the energy required to melt it.

"The ingestion of 1 litre of ice would burn about 160 calories, the amount of energy used in running one mile," he explains on the website.

"The Ice Diet works by increasing the basal metabolic rate. When ingesting clinically significant amounts of ice, the body must burn energy to warm the ice to body temperature. The ingestion of ice would also provide some level of satiety."
