The Libertines Headline Hyde Park's British Summer Time Festival As Fans Tweet Complaints Over Line-Up Changes And Crowd Issues

Fans Tweet Complaints After BST Festival Issues

The Libertines and McBusted headlined the British Summer Time music festival in London’s Hyde Park at the weekend, however not everyone was happy with the event.

A number of fans took to Twitter, voicing their complaints as the festival’s second stage closed due to health and safety concerns, just hours before The Libertines were forced to halt their set following safety concerns.

The first of the festival’s problems occurred on Saturday, when the Theatre Stage shut early, meaning sets from Swim Deep and Blur’s Graham Coxon were cancelled.

Festival organisers tweeted: “BARCLAYCARD THEATRE is currently closed due to technical issues. Head down to Spiritualized playing now! We'll update with news.”

However, fans were given little information about new plans, with concert-goers hoping to see Swim Deep being directed to the wrong stage, before Graham’s set was cancelled completely.

The stage remained shut on Sunday, leaving 5ive and Lawson fans disappointed, as both band’s appearances were cancelled.

There were also issues on the main stage, where Carl Barat and Peter Doherty’s band were forced to halt their Saturday night set when concerns were raised over crowd safety.

The Libertines stopped halfway through ‘Boys In The Band’ before Pete told fans: “We can't carry on if you don't calm down a bit."

A number of fans were pulled over the front barriers and out of the audience while the band urged everyone to move back and create more space at the front.

On Sunday evening, McBusted headlined, where they were watched by celebs including Cara Delevingne and Ellie Goulding, who hot-footed it across London following her set at Wireless Festival.
