Loom Band Dress Is Selling For £170, 000

A dress made out of loom bands - the colourful elastic bands that people of all ages are going crazy for - has been put up for sale on eBay. The top bid so far? A staggering £170,000.

The one-of-a-kind dress was listed by Helen Wright from North Wales, who had the idea to create the loom band design after her helping her 12-year-old daughter Sian make the bracelets.

"My friend Katherine physically made it because she's out of work and gets bored," single mum Helen told Wales Online.

"I said why don't we make a dress from loom bands and Katherine said she'd be happy do do it because she's too ill to work.

"She did an hour here or there in between her house work to keep her busy."

The mother-daughter duo had hoped they might earn £50 from the sale of the dress - made from 20,000 bands - to cover their costs. However, Wright has been left "shocked" by the bidding war she has sparked as pictures of her daughter modelling the design have gone viral.

This is not the first time a dress made from everyday objects has caused a stir in recent months. Strictly Come Dancing star Kristina Rihanoff turned up to Royal Ascot wearing a dress made entirely of betting slips. Far from causing a bidding war, however, Rihanoff was quickly escorted away to change.
