This Is What A 'Supermoon' Looks Like From Space

We already know that the Supermoon was spectacular this weekend. What we didn't know was just how spectacular it looked from space.

Now we do.

The following four pictures were posted by Oleg Artmyev, a Russian cosmonaut currently in orbit above the Earth aboard the International Space Station.

The Moon - said to have been the brightest for more than 20 years - was an instance of a fairly regular phenomenon, in which the Moon is slightly (about 50,000 kilometers) closer to Earth whilst also being 'full'. But when combined with clear skies and the right atmospheric conditions, the result was a genuinely beautiful sight.
