Paper Bag Speed Dating: The "Thinking Person's Tinder"

Are you over Tinder already? This new trend could be more your thing.

London-based has introduced a new concept to speed dating by asking participants to wear paper bags on their heads when they chat to potential partners.

The site is behind the #SayNoToShallow motto and is encouraging speed daters to base their decisions on personality not looks.

The first event was held at the British Science Museum on Monday night and by the looks of things, the bag thing caught on.

"It was a really good laugh," said Jacques Beaupierre, a 24-year-old Londoner who attended the event.

"It wasn't as materialistic as normal speed dating and you actually do get to know their personalities."

Each guest was asked to write a fact about themselves on their paper bag to kickstart conversations. Comments included "I changed my middle name to Danger," "I have three kidneys," and "Does my head look big in this?"

For some, it was a refreshing experience in comparison to the popular dating apps.

"It was an interesting balance to Tinder and Grindr etc," said Ian Maddison after the event.

"It was different but also quite difficult as it's hard to get to know someone in two minutes. Your first impression does include how people look and that was denied."

The next event is due to take place in New York City this autumn, but the question is will paper bag dating take off or are we really just a bit too shallow for this idea to work? Tweet us your thoughts @MyDailyUK.
