Pippa Middleton has been named as an ambassador for the British Heart Foundation as she admits she was "shocked" by statistics on heart health.
Duchess Kate's sister will help to promote the charity and the work it does to research heart disease and other conditions which affect hearts.
Hello! magazine reports that the 30-year-old said: "I was shocked to learn that nearly three times more women die from coronary heart disease than breast cancer.
"I'm passionate about raising awareness amongst women of this killer disease and I look forward to working with the BHF to highlight to women the risks of heart disease and importantly, how they can reduce them."
The BHF said: "We're delighted to announce Pippa Middleton as our newest ambassador. Pippa will work with us to raise awareness of the importance of heart health amongst women, and heart disease prevention through physical activity and healthy eating."
And Pippa is already embracing her new role and is set to take on two charity fundraisers - the Race Across America and a Cross Continental Swim. She will be raising cash for the Michael Matthews Foundation and the heart charity.
The former is a pretty hardcore challenge. The Duchess of Cambridge's sister will take part in a 3,000 mile bike tour from the west coast of the US to the east. She will be part of an eight-person relay and according to rumours, she will be the only woman on the team, but she will be joined by her brother James.
