Schoolgirl Suspended After Teacher Mistook Her Shandy For Lager

A 13-year-old girl was suspended from school after a teacher mistook her drink for a bottle of lager.

Nikita Morrison took out a bottle of shandy - which has an alcohol content of less than 0.5 and is 'suitable for children'

But Alan Armstrong, interim headteacher at Gloucester Academy, defended the exclusion.

He said: "This school and all schools never exclude a student lightly or for trivial reasons. Schools have a duty of care to ensure all students are kept safe."

What do you think? Is it acceptable for children to drink shandy at school?
