Glitter eyes and high shine metallics are big beauty trends for Autumn/Winter 2013, but full on sparkle is hardly an office-friendly look (even if it is almost the festive season.)
That doesn't mean the trend should be avoided all together, though. In fact, the most effortless way of approaching this trend is the soft, subtle alternative to sparkle - shimmer.
The best example of this on the catwalk? Pat McGrath's makeup at Dior's dreamy A/W 13 couture show.
Berry and bronze lip colours shimmered thanks to a mirror-effect gloss, the skin glistened with a pearlescent highlighter and eyes were left bare aside from a wet-look shadow. Even the slicked-back hair was full of shine.
However, if glossy lips aren't your thing, the easiest way to wear the trend is with an illuminating blush or cream. Sweep across cheekbones for an iridescent glow or add under the eyebrows (it's a great trick to make your eyes pop.)
And if you've picked out a strapless dress to wear for party season? Try applying a highlighter across the collarbone for extra glamour.
