Plum was the hottest makeup shade at the Autumn/Winter 2013 shows and guess what? The purple hue isn't going anywhere for Spring/Summer 2014.
As things get lighter and brighter in the season ahead, lilac and lavender tones will be popping up on the beauty counters - and not just in the nail polish section.
Shiseido has revealed its two new Lacquer Gloss shades in Nebula (shimmering violet) and Phantom (lavender). Bright? More of a subtle shimmer with a hint of pretty pastel. Best of all, they're non-sticky and high-tech too.
As well as adding vibrant colour, these glosses smooth and hydrate the lips for the perfect, high-shine finish. Just what our lips need after the winter months.
There's plenty of inspiration from the catwalk and red carpet too. Prabal Gurung and Peter Pilotto's S/S 14 shows featured matte, pastel purple lips and as for our favourite celebrity lilac look? Nothing beats Ginnifer Goodwin. The pixie crop + feline flick + pop of gloss = chic, spring beauty.
Ready to try the trend? If you can't wait until 6 March, when the Shiseido colours launch, here are a few more of our favourites to get you started:
