Two fighter jets have been launched by the US to escort an unresponsive small aircraft that was scheduled to and in Florida and is currently in Cuban airspace.

The jets broke off the trail and are waiting for it to reenter international airspace.

The plane's pilot has failed to respond to repeated calls from air traffic control.

A spokesperson for NORAD said the aircrafts windows were frosted leading to speculation the incident may involve hypoxia, a low level of oxygen.

The plane was flying from New York. The plane is a Socata TBM-700 and can hold 4-6 people .

It is not known how many were on board.
