Barbie Is Next Summer's Style Icon

Barbie Is Next Summer's Style Icon

Jeremy Scott sent a fleet of real life Barbies down the runway for the MoschinoSpring/Summer 2015 show during Milan Fashion Week - to the sound of Aqua's 'Barbie Girl,' obviously.

Think OTT plastic fantastic, a whole lot of pink and the biggest, blondest bouffant 'dos you've ever seen.

Here's five reasons why you need to make Barbie your style icon next summer (if you even needed convincing).

1. The top-to-toe pink

Colour blocking is a big trend and nothing says look-at-me like maxing out on the pink front.

2. Best accessories ever

Barbie is the kind of girl who takes accessorising to another level so oversized jewellery is key. As are INFLATABLE cross-body bags, snapback caps, ghetto blaster bags and heart-shaped sunnies.

FYI she's also queen of carry-on luggage, so get on the case.

3. Role play

Because who doesn't want to try out doing Work Out Barbie, Beach Barbie, Roller Skating Barbie, Beatbox Barbie, Jet-Set Barbie...

4. The hair

If you're not blessed with a full head of wavy tresses then it's time to invest in a peroxide blonde wig. Because, if Brit model Sam Rollinson can trade in her short brunette bangs for this Barbie-esque 'do, so can we.

5. Every day is a cocktail dress day

Think fabulous 1980s-inspired numbers: strapless sequin bodice belted with a super-sized bow, gold rouched halter-neck gown, polka dot peplum dresses, pink fur boas, frill, chiffon and more glitter than you can shake a stick at.

The best bit? Hours after Moschino's Barbie girls stormed the runway scene, the Spring/Summer 2015 capsule collection was available to buy online.

That white Moschino Barbie tee is a cool £205, or how about snapping up the Barbie iPhone 5 case for £44?
