Apple's Giant iPad Could Launch With Mac OS X

Is Apple Putting Mac OS X On An iPad?

With the iPhone 6 now out in the world attention has turned to the company's next expected launch, the iPad Air 2 and the much-rumoured iPad Pro.

According to DigiTimes Apple has two iPad Pro prototypes in the works, the first being a large 12.9-inch tablet that'll just run iOS 8 and the second is an iPad/MacBook hybrid that can turn from one into the other and will run Mac OS X Yosemite.

With Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 looking to 'replace the laptop' it would seem likely that these products are a natural reaction to the ever-increasing 'hybrid' market of Windows laptops that can then also become tablets.

In case you're thinking about seeing either at the new iPad launch in late October then don't hold your breath as DigiTimes believes that Apple won't start putting the larger iPad into production until early next year.
