It's been a good month for the world of sportswear. Just weeks after it was confirmed Beyoncé is collaborating with Topshop on an athletic streetwear line, Puma has appointed Rihanna as its new creative director.
In a press release, the brand stated the 26-year-old singer will start working with the design teams from January 2015 and will take "a fresh, forward thinking and non-traditional approach to sports, fitness and lifestyle."
Rihanna will also be the face of its women's training category and she'll star in the brand's campaign Forever Faster along with athletes such as Usain Bolt and Sergio Aguero.
Speaking about her new role Rihanna said, "It's great to find a brand that celebrates strength and individuality. I couldn't think of a more perfect partner to collaborate with as a creative director. I'm excited for you to see what Puma and I come up with."
And let's just say Rihanna isn't going to hold back when it comes to designing her new range.
In an interview with WWD, the singer promised "to come up with cool things that don't even belong in Puma."
"It could even be down to suspenders," she added. "We can experiment and take risks, that's what I'm most excited about - the creative freedom."
One thing's for sure - the Rihanna x Puma gym kit will definitely get its wearer noticed.
