Paedophile Lostprophets Singer And Girlfriend 'Discussed Having A Baby So They Could Rape And Kill Child'

Jailed paedophile rock star Ian Watkins made a sex tape with a girlfriend where they shared his fantasies of child abuse, a court heard on Monday.

Joanne Mjadzelics, 39, is accused of encouraging the Lostprophets singer - jailed for 35 years for trying to rape a baby - to distribute indecent images of children.

Mjadzelics claims she was trying to trap the musician and help bring him to justice.

Cardiff Crown Court heard that police discovered the recording, which was made in a Cardiff hotel in February 2008, after Watkins' arrest.

When they played it they saw him and Mjadzelics having sex and talking about having a child together so they could rape and kill it, jurors heard.

Investigators also found traces of online sex chats between Mjadzelics and Watkins, the court was told.

She was arrested in January 2013 as part of Operation Globe - a worldwide investigation into Watkins' paedophile activities.

Mjadzelics accepts she was in possession of four indecent images of children, had sent an indecent image of a child and had twice encouraged Watkins to send her an image of child rape.

Watkins was jailed in December 2013

But she told police after her arrest that she had a legitimate reason for keeping the images in order to trap Watkins and bring him to justice.

During a 90 minute interview with officers from South Wales Police at Doncaster police station, Mjadzelics declined a solicitor insisting: "I haven't done anything."

She told the police she was "disgusted" at what she was saying in the video but said it to "get him off" during sex and it was all a "fantasy".

"It seems really stupid but I was just totally in love. I knew that's what got him off and I just said things to get him off," she told officers.

"I was totally in love with him and I would say anything to keep him. I am just disgusted."

The court heard extracts from the 68-page transcript of the video in which Mjadzelics discusses with Watkins raping a baby and murdering a young girl.

Asked about them, Mjadzelics replies to detectives: "It's fantasy talk. I never had any intention of having a kid or raping a kid.

"It's all stuff that he's said before. It's stuff that got him off. He would say stuff to me so I knew what would get him off.

"I can't explain why I said all the things. I never wanted to do it. It was the only dirty thoughts that got him off."

Mjadzelics told police that she had taken cocaine with and without Watkins but after stopping using the drug she realised the conversations with him were wrong.

She said she met up with him in 2011 as "I wanted to get him to trust me".

"I needed to get something on him and the only way to get that was to discuss it," she added.

"I had been telling him to speak to the police and he made me sign a gagging order to try and shut me up."

Judge Eleri Rees, the Recorder of Cardiff, adjourned the trial until Tuesday.
