"The best thing about a yurt is the fact that it provides a blank canvas so you can add all your own personal touches – I wanted bright, festival, country and vintage all rolled into one," explains Danielle, who married fiancé George at Down Hatherley Church, followed by a reception in a yurt set up in Maisemore Court in Gloucester.
The couple used Wedding Yurts to set the perfect scene for their dream wedding, choosing the complete luxury Wedding Yurts package. This included a 32-foot yurt with three smaller yurts podded on (including two bright pink lined yurts), solid oak floors, furniture, strings of golden fairy lights and chandeliers, the Yurt Bar (Danielle helped choose cocktails for the bespoke bar menu), styling and decoration and on-the-day coordination.
To fit with the festival/country theme, the couple had plenty of outdoor touches, from hay bales for the guests to relax on to a Pimm's camper van and a wheelbarrow filled with cold beers. An acoustic duo entertained guests with the couple's favourite rock tunes, and speeches took place outdoors to keep things relaxed and informal. The day was captured by photographer Louise Holgate.
Taking the Thai Loy Krathong Festival for inspiration (the couple had been there in their backpacking days), the couple also used the lake at Maismore Court to showcase 250 bespoke floating lily pads (shipped over from a friend in Thailand), filled with LED tealights and strung together on a fishing wire by Danielle's dad, an engineer.
The evening finished off with a three-course sit-down wedding breakfast, dancing and fireworks.
My biggest help during the wedding, besides my family, was using Pinterest to store (and steal!) ideas.
"It was particularly helpful when meeting and dealing with suppliers as they can get a real feel for what you like – many of my suppliers were following my board and you can have secret boards to keep your ideas just that."
