Lupita Nyong'o's Stolen Oscars Dress Has Been Returned

Lupita Nyong'o's custom-made Oscars dress has been returned to the same Hollywood hotel room it was stolen from, reports TMZ.

The Calvin Klein Collection gown, which has been valued at value at £97,000, was taken from The London West Hollywood on Wednesday. Two days later, a person claiming to have stolen the pearl-embellished dress gave the celebrity website information about where to find it and described the garment as a "worthless fake".

The thief was told the pearls from the design weren't real, TMZ's story explains. He then returned it to a bathroom on the hotel's second floor inside a rubbish bag.

However, detectives in Los Angeles are yet to confirm if the dress is the same one the 32-year-old Kenyan actress wore to the Academy Awards.

Francisco Costa, the creative director at Calvin Klein, is hoping it's the real thing more than anyone. He plans to reconstruct the missing item that is now a key part of the brand's history.

"Once it's returned to us, we will be able to have the dress restored and archived, as it now represents an important moment for the brand," he told Women's Wear Daily.

Of course, Lupita's gown was just one of many one-of-a-kind designs. Here's a reminder of all the dresses from this year's Oscars red carpet below:
