Liam, who is currently on a mammoth jaunt around the globe on 1D’s ‘On The Road Again’ world tour, was not at all impressed when a news site posted a link to a story with the headline: “Is One Direction Star Liam Payne Drinking Too Much?”
Responding publicly to the gossip site, he hit back at their suggestions, claiming that he doesn’t “really like responding too [sic] news articles anymore”, but insisting: “I really think this is out of order.”
@IQShowbiz now I don't really like responding too news articles anymore but i really think this is out of order I don't have a problem— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) March 4, 2015
@IQShowbiz thanks for worrying but I don't spend my time off stage drinking I play video games with friends and go to the gym— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) March 4, 2015
The 21-year-old singer went on to say that while he did enjoy a drink, he didn’t think his boozing was anything out of the ordinary for “a normal boy [his] age”, writing: “Don’t treat me like I’m any different.”
@IQShowbiz I don't drink anymore than a uni student my age so don't treat me like I'm any different to a normal boy my age— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) March 4, 2015
Liam later apologised to fans for his “rant”, and wished them a “nice evening”.
Apologies for the rant guys have a nice evening x— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) March 4, 2015
This isn’t the first time One Direction have had to clear up rumours about their hard-partying ways, after the group were forced to deny that Zayn Malik had a “substance abuse” issue, when a dodgy tummy meant he was unable to join them in America for the launch of their latest album, ‘Four’.
The boys are currently in Japan as part of the Asian leg of their world tour, so let’s just hope none of them are in a mad rush for a selfie with Liam - we’ve all seen how enthusiastic he can get when he has to pose for a photo with fans...
